INTRODUCTION
Jennifer Keusgen is a textile and fashion designer with a research-driven approach. Her creative practice explores alternative methods of producing fashion, based on the concept of 'Caring Garments' that prioritize the tactile and haptic criteria relevant to the human body. Using methods from integrative design, design research, speculative design, and critical design, she creates artefacts and experiences that aim to provide both embodied experience and space for critical reflection.
After completing her fashion design studies at Pforzheim University - School of Design and studying abroad at the National Institute of Design in Ahmedabad, India, Jennifer Keusgen worked internationally as a concept and fashion designer for several years. In 2020, she completed a Master's degree in Integrative Design at the Academy of Art and Design (FHNW) in Basel. Her master project, 'Tactile Matters,' has been featured in various design magazines and exhibited internationally.
As a research assistant at the Studio for New Materials and Technologies in the Department of Textile Design at the State Academy of Fine Arts Stuttgart, she lectures on new textile practices in the field of electronic and digital textiles.
